I took a select few computers and updated my configuration so they had a scheduled windows update task then kicked one off via the console. no matter what I try it always seems to end in problems with them getting stuck in maintenance mode. My only problems with these machines and deep freeze is the windows update function. This, because the profile of the user logging on has to be recreated from scratch whenever the system has rebooted from a "frozen" state. So, for people wanting to get logged in now, the boot-up times are acceptable, though it usually takes a little longer than normal for the log in process to complete. That issue has kept us a way from another product that uses boot-up time to do the restore, whereas DFE does its magic on shutdown. Getting Windows Updates completely turned off is something fairly difficult to do - at some point that machine is going to want to update. I would like to defer Windows Updates for 365 days and have Updates installed via the Deepfreeze Console rather than have to manually do it myself by thawing each machine etc., I am not even sure if this is technically possible which is why I am putting it out there.
